Launching into the Deep with Technology & Youth Culture:

Technology has changed just about every facet of our lives except the church. Whether you believe this or not, the church seemingly is way behind on implementing the kind of changes necessary to attract, empower and retain the youth of our churches and communities. This workshop track is specifically designed for pastors or lay leaders of youth ministries who are interested in learning about the innovative possibilities which exist within the world of technology to bring our churches from doing “8 track ministry to the world of the MP3 generation.”

Launching into the Deep with Pastoral Care:

“Downsizing in a Supersized World” is the way Dr. F. Keith Slaughter described the issue that is impacting pastors and church leaders in the face of drastically declining offerings and church budgets. Churches are in trouble and so are their pastors. Dealing with the gamut of emotions that arise from such experiences, pastors are often left to wrestle with their issues in total isolation. This workshop track is designed to offer comfort, hope and help for pastors and lay leaders who are committed to enduring this tough economic season with as much moral and financial integrity as possible.

Launching into the Deep with Mass Incarceration:

In her ground breaking book, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in an Age of Color Blindness, Michelle Alexander unmasks the evil, racist, legal system that is imprisoning more people of color than any other ethnic group in these “yet to be United States of America.” If you have been wondering where are the black men from our churches and communities and how you or your church can help to stop the flow of youth into America’s Prison Industrial Complex, you need to attend this extraordinary event with this extraordinary woman.

Michelle Alexander, Esq

Launching into the Deep with Lay Leadership:

“The ants united and ate the elephant” is an African proverb that aptly describes the potential of a congregation uniting around issues that are important to kingdom growth. This uniting around a common vision and purpose first takes place between a pastor and the leaders of the church which then flows over into the congregation. This workshop is designed to empower lay leaders and ministers (persons who lead from the second chair) who are serious about addressing issues which are inhibiting the growth of the local church.
