Library Services

American Baptist College provides library services to support its academic programs and community involvement.

Borrowing and Circulation

Books from the circulating collection circulate for a month and must be returned or renewed by the due date. Renewals will not be allowed if another person has placed a hold on that book.

Students may borrow up to five books during the loan period. A fine of 10 cents per day is charged for overdue books.

When an Instructor places a book on “Reserve”, these items may be used in the library for 2 hours. These may be checked out overnight within 30 minutes of closing time. They must be returned within the first hour of opening the next day. The late fine is 25 cents an hour.

Books which are damaged or lost must be paid in full by the person checking the item out. The fees will include the actual cost of the book plus a processing fee.

All fines must be paid and all books returned prior to receiving grades. Only cash will be accepted.

Ask A Librarian

The Ask a Librarian service searches for reference materials for students and researchers.

If you have a very broad question or you are researching a complex subject you are advised to visit the library in person to consult with the librarians.

Course Reserves

Course Reserves are materials (books, journals, articles, videos, DVDs, etc.) which are set aside by faculty and staff for the exclusive use of their students. Hard copy items may be checked out from the Circulation Desk for a limited amount of time.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan requests may be submitted for books, dissertations and photocopies of journal articles. Please understand that rare books, audiovisuals, genealogical and reference materials are not generally available for loan. Textbooks cannot be requested.

Library Workshops

The T.L. Holcomb Library is committed to offering high-quality instruction sessions for students, staff, and faculty on Library resources and services.

Our staff provides individual or group instruction on topics/resources such as:

• Online Catalog Searching

Purchase Request

The library welcomes suggestions for purchase of library materials. Suggestions will be reviewed by a librarian against several factors, including: appropriateness of the material for the collection, available funding, and origin of the suggestion.

Visitor Cards

The library provides limited borrowing privileges and limited Windows computer access to community visitors.

Courtesy patrons must be registered at the library and present their library card when borrowing materials.

In order to register, a person must be an adult (18 years of age or older) and present one form of photo identification (driver’s license, ID card, etc.) and proof of address.
