Students MUST apply for housing each school year.
American Baptist College has two types of campus
living quarters: dormitories and apartments. The two dorms house 10
students in each building. There are 3 different apartment style units:
- Studio $450 per month with utilities included
- 1 bedroom
$550 per month with utilities included
- 2 bedroom $650 per month with utilities included
- Dormitory $1,000
per semester with utilities included
When a student is accepted for admission to American Baptist College,
the individual does not receive a room or apartment automatically.
Only filing an application for campus housing, accompanied by a $125
non-refundable deposit, reserves a room or apartment. Students must
apply for housing each school year. The initial housing deposit of
$125 is non-refundable, but transferable from year to year. If a student
decides not to attend the college, his/her deposit will be refunded
in full.
Filing Deadlines
- Fall Semester Applications: July 25th
- Spring Semester
Applications: December 15th
Dormitories
Dorm space is filled on a first come, first serve basis with preference
given to out of town students. Regular inspection of dormitory rooms
is made, and damage to room or furniture is assessed against the student’s
account for the purposes or repair or replacement. The College is not
responsible for damage to or loss of students’ personal property
due to theft, mischief, fire, etc.
Apartments
Apartments are only open to full-time students. All rent is payable
one month in advance, and a four-year limit is placed on residence.
The information and application form for apartments may be obtained
from the Housing Office or this website.
Apartments and studio units are assigned on a first come first served
basis, unless there is a need to accommodate a student for health reasons
or one with a family from out of town. If we have no requests from
out of town students with families, then apartments and efficiencies
are used to accommodate students who may wish to share the space with
another student or students, and share the monthly rent. This opportunity
is usually granted to students, who have been on campus for a while
and have deemed themselves responsible for apartment living.
Summer Housing
Students may stay on campus during the Maymester
and Summer Sessions only if they are registered in class for these
sessions. Rent for the Maymester and Summer Sessions is $80 per week.
Housing Checkout Guidelines
When a student surrenders housing he/she must do the
following:
- Clean up their living space, removing all personal items.
Items left in the room or apartment unit will be discarded. The college
will not be responsible for storage of such items.
- Come to the
housing office to officially check out; and
- Return dorm/apartment
keys and mailbox key to the housing office.
- Refunds will be pro-rated
on a weekly basis when a student has to leave campus housing.
* * HOUSING POLICY UPDATE * *
Campus Policy for all Housing Assignments effective July 1, 2011
ABC has physically and organizationally restructured our Campus Housing
components. This included the restructuring of campus policies and
procedures beginning with processes for applying for campus housing
through procedures for pre-registering for housing. This will avoid
students arriving and expecting housing without having registered officially
with the Business Office.
Our efforts have created a new campus housing environment. It is where
students can expect a clean, safe and respectful community that allows
them to reach their full potential.
To be compliant with ABC policy, effective July 1, 2011, the following
applies to all students, new and returning, who seek housing on campus:
1st : You must be registered
as a full time student to occupy campus housing.
2nd : You must be cleared by the Business
Office. You will receive a form stating that you are registered and
in good financial standing. The Business Office is located on the
1st floor of the Administration building. 615-687-6895
3rd : You must bring this signed form
to the Operations and Housing Office, located in Alumni Hall, to
receive your room/apartment assignment and key. You will not be able
to occupy campus housing without the signed form.
4th : If you have a vehicle that will
be parked on campus, it must be registered and have an American Baptist
College decal. Without this decal, vehicles are subject to towing.
