Theological Roundtable
The Sustaining Pastoral Excellence project will host two Theological Roundtables in the Fall and two in the Spring.
In
collaboration with the American Bible Society, which provided a $10,000
grant, American Baptist College launched the Distinguished Speakers
Dialogue Series in Black History Month of 2002. This dialogue series
included presentations from several outstanding church and community
leaders: United Methodist Bishop Leontine Kelly; Rep. John R. Lewis,
5th District, GA; Peter Paris, Professor of Christian Ethics, Princeton
University; and the Rev. Dr. Hycel B. Taylor, former pastor of the
historic Pilgrim Baptist Church of Chicago. After formal presentations,
these speakers participated in roundtable discussions regarding the
theological matters raised in the presentations. Our aim for these
dialogic encounters is to encourage theological renewal for pastors
in Christian ministry.
